Oak Park Community Information

Ventura County: Oak Park

Oak Park is a relatively small but charming unincorporated community at the foot of Cheeseboro Canyon and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation area. Oak Park has the delightful Mediterranean climate that Southern California is known for, with mild winters and warm, dry summers. During the summers, however, residents often experience late-afternoon, cooling ocean breezes.

Nestled between North Ranch, Westlake Village and Agoura Hills, Oak Park is home to a highly regarded school district comprised of three elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and an alternative high school. Oak Park falls within the Ventura County Community College District with the nearest campus being Moorpark College. Additionally, there are several four-year colleges and universities nearby including California Lutheran University and California State University Channel Islands, while slightly further afield you’ll find UCLA, California State University Northridge, and Pepperdine University.

As a master-planned community, open space and parks are an integral part of what contribute to the rural feeling of Oak Park. It is not unusual to encounter deer, owl, woodpeckers and other wildlife in the Oak Park Open Space.

There are few commercial developments in Oak Park, it is truly a residential community of single-family homes, individually-owned townhomes with common-owned streets and greenbelts, and apartments.
