Ashley Coleman was born and raised in Thousand Oaks. Both of her parents and
her older sister went to Thousand Oaks High School, and Ashley attended local
schools in the Conejo Valley from elementary school all the way to Westlake
High School. “All my friends and
family went to all the schools in the Conejo Valley, and now all of our kids
are going there too. When you move to T.O., you stay in T.O.!” she explains.
Before her career in real
estate, Ashley worked in fashion from age sixteen to twenty-five. After graduating from Westlake High,
she commuted to fashion school in downtown Los Angeles (FIDM) where she earned
an AA in Visual Communications / Merchandise Marketing. “I love making ALL things pretty, from
humans and families to houses and design!” Ashley then worked at very high-end stores like Lily et Cie,
Fred Segal & Barneys New York. It wasn't rare for her to dress celebrities
for events and expand her clientele by being a sales person/shopper and/or
wardrobe styling or providing closet therapy (going through peoples closets and
helping them weed stuff in and out).
She was always the top or one of the top sales people at any store where
she worked. "Sales" was definitely something natural to Ashley, “…although
I am NOT a hard seller.” She loved
fashion and moved to L.A. to live there and see what she could do in that area.
As it turned out, L.A.
wasn't for Ashley. Even though she
loves all the pretty things to be found there, her roots are here in Thousand
Oaks and she wanted to focus more on families, and a line of work that wasn't
so superficial.
What else could she sell,
she wondered, that would allow her to work with kids and families and feel like
she is actually doing a good deed?
Homes! “I love working with
families who are relocating or are locals themselves. There is always something exciting and rewarding in helping
a family find their home and helping calm the storm and stress of a major
purchase.”
Ashley’s husband was also
born and raised in Thousand Oaks. They attended high school together and were
friends for years. They always
kept in touch and ended up married!
They have a toddler son and another baby on the way in Spring 2011. Her
husband’s family are all Thousand Oaks locals, too.
The Colemans initially chose
to purchase a home in Westlake Village, across from the Lake, which is Ashley’s
favorite spot. With a growing
family, they rented the Westlake home to tenants and moved to Thousand Oaks
into something bigger.
When not busy with her real
estate clients, Ashley still pursues her passion for fashion as a favorite
hobby. She also loves anything
design oriented or artsy – home décor and photography are her two biggest
interests. She has helped friends with everything from their family photo
shoots to picking paint colors for their brand new house.
In the summer, the Colemans
enjoy taking their boat to Lake Nacimiento or San Antonio. Both summer and winter vacations are
spent at the family’s Mammoth property.
“I’ve been going to Mammoth and skiing since I could walk.” They are
members of the North Ranch Country Club.
“My husband golfs as many times a week as he can, I would love to play
tennis once my schedule gives me the time.” |
