Real Estate Professional Ian Cameron was born in Mildura, Victoria,
Australia. Ian grew up in a small farming community where there were
only 300 students in the local high school. He then attended University
of Melbourne and took his degree in Civil Engineering.
Among Ian’s many assignments, he was field engineer on the construction
of the Thames River Flood Barrier in London. He took his MBA in
Australia, and accepted a position heading up planning for Australia’s
first CD manufacturing plant. An inter-company transfer brought him to
Huntsville, AL in 1989, with subsequent relocations to Plano, TX, Long
Island, NY & Camarillo, CA. In all, Ian was a Senior Manager for
many years, managing, developing & motivating teams.
Clearly a lover of the outdoors and high adventure, Ian’s story reads
more like an action novel than a bio. He spent vacations working as an
Outward Bound instructor in the Victorian ‘High Country,’ and one winter
as a ski tow operator in Victoria. For three months, he walked numerous
US national parks in Colorado, Utah & California. He traveled
overland through Mexico, Central America, and South America, visiting
the Galapagos, Machu Pichu, and Carnival in Rio. For two years, Ian
lived in Argentinean Tierra del Fuego, assisting on field research into
taxonomy and distribution of small whales and dolphins. He worked as a
cook’s assistant on a small USARP scientific research vessel in and
around the Antarctic Peninsula.
Now permanently settled in Oak Park since 1995, Ian’s two daughters have
been students in the Oak Park Unified School District for ten years.
Both girls are active participants in local sports leagues. His wife is
a partner in a nationally oriented recruiting firm.
Says Ian, “Employment brought me to the Conejo Valley and it is by
choice that I am still here. Having lived and worked in different
states, I have a very good understanding of the trials and tribulations
of a family moving to a new location. Customer relations were an
important part of my responsibilities in my management role for 17
years.” His transition to real estate brings his clients a wealth of
local area knowledge, and tremendous business expertise. |
