Carole and Manny Hernandez were given special recognition for the year
2007. At the national level within Prudential is an elite award known
as Chairman’s Circle. It is given to Realtors who achieve exemplary
production figures during the previous year. The Hernandez team has now
earned Chairman’s Circle status for five years in a row, honored with
Chairman’s Circle Gold for 2007. As a result, they have been
inaugurated into the select group known as Legend.
The couple met in 1963, and created and opened the Casa Tropical in
Oxnard, on the way to Oxnard Shores, as a new business in 1964. From
1964 into the 1970's, they ran this high profile Mexican Restaurant and
Nightclub. Customers danced to live bands, and enjoyed Mariachi music
every Sunday, with an Amateur Hour for singers. The program was
broadcast live on KOXR radio, with some of the winners going on to
lucrative musical careers. Hollywood stars, field workers, the yachting
crowd from the marina, and local families of all ages enjoyed the
excellent food and filled the venue to capacity. Parties and wedding
receptions abounded. “We ran a tight ship and it was a happy crowd, but
as colorful as it was we realized the time was right to pursue our
mutual goal of a career in real estate. So we sold the business and
earned our real estate licenses in 1971. Even after all these years we
are still stopped almost anywhere we go by customers from the past who
want to reminisce about the good old days.”
Carole obtained credentials in interior decorating from the Institute of
Interior Design in Atlanta, Georgia. She returned to California in
1963 and, along with running the restaurant, worked with Barker Bros. in
Ventura in the late 1960's. With this expert background, Carole has
always been able to advise clients how to rearrange and “thin out their
homes,” many years before the significance of “staging” was recognized
as an important thing to do.
Both have their broker’s licenses and are Broker Associates at
Prudential California Realty’s Camarillo office. They are proud of the
volume of repeat business and referrals that they receive. Carole is a
Fine Homes Specialist and a Certified Relocation Specialist. Manny is a
Certified Real Estate Exchangor. They both work with commercial
properties and 1031 tax deferred exchanges. They specialize in
Camarillo, Somis, Gold Coast Beach Communities, Ventura, Oxnard,
Moorpark and the Santa Rosa Valley.
